The Complaints Officer position is a temporary, 12-month cover role within the not-for-profit industry, focused on handling and resolving customer complaints. This Chester-based role requires a detail-oriented professional with excellent communication skills to ensure customer satisfaction and compliance.

Job Description

  • Manage and resolve customer complaints in a professional and timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate records of complaints and resolutions in line with company policies.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to investigate and address complaint issues effectively.
  • Communicate resolutions to customers clearly and empathetically.
  • Identify recurring issues and provide recommendations for service improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and organisational standards in complaint handling.
  • Prepare and present reports on complaint trends and outcomes to management.
  • Support the Customer Service department with additional administrative tasks as needed.



This role does offer hybrid working 3 days at home and 2 days in the office once training has been completed. Training will be completed in the Chester office for up to 3/4 weeks.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Complaints Officer should have:

  • Previous experience in a complaints handling role within housing.
  • Knowledge and understanding of housing sector & housing ombudsman.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Knowledge of the not-for-profit industry or similar sectors is an advantage.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Proficiency in using customer relationship management (CRM) systems.
  • Can commit to a 12 month MAT cover.
