London 16 July 2014 – PageGroup, the specialist recruitment company, hosted its first workshop for twenty students from Petts Hill Primary School last week at its largest consultancy office in London. The workshop was led by Enabling Enterprise, a non-profit organisation which links schools and businesses together to help equip young students with valuable skills, aspirations and experiences. Petts Hill Primary School is embedding the Enabling Enterprise scheme into their curriculum which involves preparing students for the world of work.Steve Hallam, managing director Page Personnel Human Resources and Business & Secretarial Support, said the workshop was a fantastic way to introduce the students to a corporate working environment.“This is the first time Page Personnel has conducted a workshop for a primary school and we were delighted by the children`s enthusiasm and willingness to learn. We really wanted to demonstrate the importance of working hard to reach your potential, as well as the array of different careers available to them.”The workshop involved the students conducting mock-interviews with PageGroup staff and designing a functional and innovative work bag for its employees. After their research and preparation stages, the students presented their designs to the class and a panel of PageGroup staff.“The final presentations were fantastic and I was very impressed by the children`s innovative ideas and their ability to think `outside the box`. Thank you to Enabling Enterprise for providing our people with an opportunity to engage with a younger audience and help the local community in a unique and positive way,” Mr Hallam said.Valerie Upton, Head Teacher at Petts Hill Primary School said the workshop was a rare and special occasion for the students.“The trip to PageGroup enabled the children from years 3 to 5 to work together cooperatively for a day on a joint project. Our school has a wide multi ethnic intake with around 26 different languages being spoken at home and some students rarely have the opportunity to journey into central London. Although our curriculum is packed with fun learning opportunities there is something very special about going to a `real` workplace.”ENDSNotes to editors: Media ContactSophie Tudor, Communications Executive, PageGroupE: sophietudor@michaelpage.comT: (+44) 203 077 8177Notes to editors: About PageGroup (www.page.com)PageGroup (formerly known as Michael Page International) is one of the world`s best-known and well-respected professional recruitment consultancies.
