The client are looking for a Senior Management Accountant, with a passion for the Retail, Beauty and Cosmetics industry, to join the Accounting & Finance department. The role is fully remote and will require someone to come to the City of London every 1-2 months. They will be second in command to the Financial Controller and will be supervising two junior Accounts Assistants.

About Our Client

The role is a fully remote position that will suit a candidate with prior experience working in a similar role. The finance team is small and you will be working alongside another 2 Accounts Assistants, whilst reporting into the Financial Controller. The successful candidate will manage the day to day operations of the finance team, the month-end process and the budgeting for the business. On top of that, they will have a big part in the management of the NetSuite system. The team are really easy to get on with and are looking for a candidate to help manage the finance team.

Job Description

The successful Senior Management Accountant will:NetSuite Management* System Administration: Act as the primary point of contact for NetSuite, managing system configurations, updates, and troubleshooting to ensure seamless operations.

* Integration Support: Assist the Financial Controller with future integrations between NetSuite and other business systems, ensuring efficient and streamlined workflows.

* Training and Support: Provide training and ongoing support to finance staff on NetSuite functionalities to enhance system efficiency and user adoption.

* Custom Reporting: Serve as the go-to contact for the wider business, assisting in building and customising reports to meet business needs.

* Financial Process Automation: Oversee automation processes for journal entries and prepayments, improving accuracy and efficiency in financial reporting.

* Stock Reconciliation: Manage stock reconciliations and adjustments, ensuring financial records align with inventory levels.

* Intercompany Eliminations: Handle the intercompany elimination process, ensuring accurate consolidation of financial statements.Project Support* Financial Expertise: Provide financial insights and guidance to support strategic business initiatives and projects, ensuring alignment with overall company objectives.

* Project Accounting: Oversee project finances, including tracking costs, preparing reports, and ensuring strict adherence to budgets and financial controls.

* Stakeholder Support: Collaborate with department managers to provide financial analysis and ensure that project financial goals support the company's broader strategic objectives.

* Reporting and Analysis: Prepare and review financial reports for ongoing and new projects, offering actionable insights to support business decision-making.Management Accounts* Monthly Management Accounts: Prepare comprehensive management accounts with detailed variance analysis to provide insights into financial performance.

* Month-End Close: Support the month-end close process by ensuring timely and accurate reconciliations and journal entries.

* Financial Analysis & Insights: Analyse financial data and KPIs to generate valuable insights that support strategic decision-making.

* Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with other departments to ensure data accuracy and provide meaningful commentary on financial performance.

* Accruals & Prepayments: Prepare and review monthly accrual and prepayment journals to ensure accurate expense allocation.

* Adjusting Entries: Post necessary adjusting entries to align revenue and expenses within the correct reporting periods, ensuring compliance with accounting standards.

* Recurring Journals: Set up and maintain automated recurring journals for regular expenses to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

* Reporting & KPI Management: Take ownership of monthly Teams reports and performance KPIs, ensuring data integrity and actionable insights.Budgeting and Forecasting* Collaborate on Budget Assumptions: Support the financial controller with the annual budgeting processes.

* Data Compilation: Gather input from all departments to ensure their planned activities are accurately reflected in the overall budget. Ensure alignment with company-wide strategic goals.

* Consolidation of Budget Data: Develop models and tools to improve forecasting accuracy and provide regular budget analysis.

* Identify Key Budget Drivers: Monitor spending and performance against the budget, providing timely updates to senior management.

The Successful Applicant

The successful Senior Management Accountant needs:

  • Must have prior line management experience
  • Prior experience managing the full month-end process and budgeting for a a business
  • MUST have a working knowledge of the system NetSuite and have worked on a number of systems before
  • Prior experience with audits (desirable, not essential)
  • Prior experience automating processes
  • Strong Excel skills
  • High attention to detail and excellent communication skills
  • Keen to lead a finance team
  • Able to travel to London once every 1-2 months
