A Risk and Best Practice Analyst is required to support the risk and compliance team of a law firm in Bath. This role involves managing risk-related processes and ensuring adherence to regulatory and best practice standards.

Job Description

  • Act as first contact for department policy queries, escalating when needed.
  • Handle initial GDPR breach reviews and escalate complex cases.
  • Respond to AML queries, escalating to the AML Manager as required.
  • Provide first-tier support on client onboarding, including e-verification and PEP/sanctions checks.
  • Support staff with e-verification and client management systems.
  • Maintain risk and compliance registers and generate reports.
  • Monitor government/OFSI sanctions updates and notify staff.
  • Conduct file audits for policy compliance.
  • Assist with identifying key documents and correspondence.
  • Manage renewals of certificates and registrations (e.g. ICO, insurance).
  • Support SRA Practising Certificate renewals with risk data.
  • Provide admin support for external audits.
  • Manage team diaries, schedule meetings, take minutes and track actions.
  • Assist team with bundles for claims, complaints and investigations.
  • Draft correspondence and training materials.
  • Maintain intranet pages for the team.
  • Monitor regulatory websites for updates.
  • Deliver induction training to new starters.
  • Support with admin tasks and projects as needed.



The Successful Applicant

A successful Risk and Best Practice Analyst should have:

  • Experience in or a strong understanding of risk management within the legal sector or professional services industry.
  • A proactive approach to identifying and mitigating potential risks.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • The ability to interpret regulatory frameworks and apply them effectively.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency in preparing detailed reports and maintaining accurate records.
