Being a large organisation, they have a substantial influence in the sector and are known for their commitment to delivering excellent customer service and maintaining high business standards.This role will be based in the City of London and the candidate will be required to be in the office 5 days a week.Job DescriptionPayments Clerk, City of LondonProcessing of Retail and Private Banking customer payments.Checking payment authorisation is at the correct level.Interpreting required action from the customers (usually hand-written) instructions.Payment input to Equation Banking System or Swift Alliance as appropriateSecond call back procedure to clients where necessaryFor payments received from Corporate and Institutional customers:Checking the authenticity of the payment and obtaining any necessary authorisations.Checking for available funds and arranging credit referrals as necessary.Liaising with customers by telephone and electronic means as necessary.Processing of "exotic" payments / currencies via claimbacksFor payments generated internally:Ensuring the correct level of authorisationProcessing of PaymentsFor Retail Property Payments:Check all payments against mandate authority to payCheck for brought forward amounts and investigate prior to processingCheck for available funds and arrange credit referrals with RMsFor all payments/receipts:Advising position keeper of Nostro account movementsDetermining most appropriate method and routing of payment using Nostro account lists and online systems and determining correct fees.Input of payments and associated accounting entries and advice note generation, mainly to in-house system (Equation) but also direct to Swift (Alliance Message Management).Production of drafts, generation of associated accounting entries and advice notes, and Swift advices of issue.Processing all incoming payments received both automatically electronically or manually, identifying beneficiary account numbers where not quoted and updating position keeper (as described above).Monitoring of incoming and outgoing payments for compliance with wire transfer regulationsThe Successful ApplicantA successful Payments Clerk should have:Relevant educational qualifications in banking, finance, or a related field.Proficient skills in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite.Excellent attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.Strong numerical skills and the ability to handle sensitive information.Solid understanding of financial regulations and standards in the industry.Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.What's on OfferThe successful candidate will be paid £140 - 160 per day, depending on experience.ContactAshley RoopeQuote job refJN-042025-6730818Phone number+44 207 269 1749Job summaryJob functionFinanceSubsectorOperationsSectorFinancial ServicesLocationCity of LondonContract typeTemporaryConsultant nameAshley RoopeConsultant phone+44 207 269 1749Job referenceJN-042025-6730818
