Job Description

General Responsibilities

Investigations and enforcement activities

* Take responsibility for allocated tasks in the investigation of potential breaches

of the Handbook in the largest and most complex cases

* Take proactive and appropriate action to progress cases at investigation and

disciplinary tribunal within allocated tasks

* Identify, raise, and act in relation to issues arising from the work including

submitting written summaries and information to senior staff where necessary

* Contribute to ensuring that all policies and procedures in relation to the work of

the Team are up to date and, where necessary, relevant new policies or

procedures are developed in conjunction with other departments

* Liaise with and assist the Legal Team in the conduct of litigation arising from

issues related to the work of the Team including assisting senior staff in

conducting such litigation where appropriateStrategy and planning

* Working collaboratively with other relevant employees to ensure a

coherent approach across the regulator in relation to the enforcement functions to

enable flexible resource planning, which is managed and prioritised effectively

in support of the business and strategic objectives.Regulatory and operational development projects

* Work with other departments to develop and deliver targeted or organisation wide strategies, initiatives and projects including, where relevant, membership

of internal forumsContinuous improvement activity

* Feed in appropriately to the continuous improvement for regulatory decision

making at the regulator.

* Contribute to the development and maintenance of quality assurance systems

External engagement

* Engage with, and develop, constructive external relationships with those

involved in the investigations and enforcement process

* Perform other tasks as reasonably requested from time to time by the Director

of Legal and Enforcement, Head of Investigations and Enforcement, Senior

Lawyer or Casework Manager

The Successful Applicant

Qualifications

* Law Degree or equivalent experience in similar role

Experience

* Significant experience of supporting lawyers in litigation and/ or

tribunal work.

* Providing services direct to the public

* Analysing and summarising lengthy documents and large files

for different audiences

* Collating, reviewing and finalising bundles of evidence

* TeamworkKnowledge

* Rules of evidence

* Knowledge and understanding of equality and diversity issues

* IT Literate (Microsoft Office 2000 - Word & Outlook)
