They provide infrastructure finance and partner with the private sector and local government to finance a green industrial revolution and drive growth across the United Kingdom.Job Description The Legal Counsel will provide legal advice and expertise in support of the Bank's compliance with all legal, constitutional and governance requirements.Core role accountability's include;Assisting the Head of Governance, with the benefit of their supervision, on all areas of their work and responsibilities for key legal and governance risks, including complex and bespoke matters, in support of the Bank's compliance with all legal, constitutional and governance requirements, including:developing and managing a legal framework for the bank's compliance with government requirements applicable to an arms' length body, many of which are listed in the Framework Document with HMT (including managing public money, cabinet office standards etc);developing and maintaining the banks framework of delegated authorities for its core business and those relating to special deal projects;conduct horizon scanning for new developments in law and guidance relevant to arms' length bodies relevant to the work of the bank;advise on the bank's compliance with constitutional documents and delegated authorities;advising on legal issues relevant to UKIB working with other arms' length bodies of government and other government departments (eg HMT, DEZNZ), such as information sharing, competition and subsidies;advise on freedom of information requests received by the Bank;complying with the governance and legal functions internal reporting requirements, including risk management, information asset management, business planning etc.Work with other internal and external legal advisers on other areas of the bank's work on matters of public law, regulation, procurement, litigation, deals and investments of the bank.Act as a trusted partner with key stakeholders across the Bank to identify, assess and mitigate legal risks and determine appropriate controls and resources, including specialist external legal panels, to effectively control the risks.Engage, manage and monitor the performance of outsourced legal suppliers and panels to ensure the delivery of the business objectives and commercial considerations.Support the development and delivery of specialist legal training and guidance, working with external counsel where appropriate, to raise awareness and capability across the Bank to enable the effective management of legal risks.The Successful ApplicantThe successful 'Legal Counsel' should have:A background gained in private practice or In-houseKnowledge of commercial law, FS regulatory, governance, corporate and procurement would be desirable.Likely to have around 2-7 years PQE.Ties to LeedsWhat's on OfferA competitive salary ranging from £65000 to £85000 per annum.30 days holiday leave.Generous pension contribution.Comprehensive health care coverage.Hybrid working arrangementContactMike SmithQuote job refJN-092024-6526853Phone number+44 07881904018Job summaryJob functionLegalSubsectorBanking & Finance - In HouseSectorPublic SectorLocationLeedsContract typePermanentConsultant nameMike SmithConsultant phone+44 07881904018Job referenceJN-092024-6526853
