Job Description

The Key Account Director will be responsible for driving growth, developing strategic partnerships, and managing key accounts within the plumbing and heating industry. This role focuses on leading business development efforts and fostering long-term relationships with key partners to maximise sales, profitability, and brand presence. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the plumbing and heating market, customer needs, and a proven track record of managing large accounts at a senior level.



  • Account Management & Growth:
    • Lead and manage relationships with key accounts in the plumbing and heating sector, including wholesalers, distributors, and other major partners.
    • Drive revenue growth through the development and execution of account-specific strategies, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
    • Develop annual joint business plans with key customers to support both revenue and brand growth targets.
    • Monitor and analyse sales performance, market trends, and competitor activity to identify opportunities for growth.


  • Customer Relationship Development:
    • Build strong, long-term relationships with senior stakeholders within key accounts, acting as the primary point of contact.
    • Establish trust and credibility by understanding the customer's business, market positioning, and key decision-making processes.
    • Negotiate pricing, promotional activities, and joint marketing efforts with key accounts to maximise profitability.


  • Sales & Marketing Collaboration:
    • Work closely with internal sales and marketing teams to develop tailored programs and promotional strategies to increase product visibility and sell-through within the plumbing and heating sector.
    • Align product offerings and merchandising initiatives with customer-specific needs, ensuring successful execution of marketing campaigns.
    • Collaborate with product development teams to provide customer insights and feedback for continuous product improvement.


  • Financial & Performance Management:
    • Develop and manage account budgets, sales forecasts, and profitability targets, ensuring financial objectives are met.
    • Analyse performance metrics regularly, providing reports and actionable insights to senior management to drive decision-making.
    • Identify risks and develop contingency plans to mitigate any potential shortfalls in sales or profitability.


  • Market Intelligence:
    • Stay current on industry trends, market shifts, and competitor strategies to keep the company well-positioned within the plumbing and heating market.
    • Leverage customer and market insights to identify new opportunities for expanding business within the sector.



The Successful Applicant

The successful Key Account Director will:-

  • Have demonstrableexperience in account management, sales, or business development, with a strong focus on the plumbing and heating industry or DIY channel.
  • Proven experience managing large national and regional accounts, with a demonstrated ability to drive revenue growth.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills, with a strong network in the plumbing and heating space.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills and the ability to leverage data to make informed decisions.
  • Ability to travel as needed to maintain customer relationships and attend key meetings.
