The role demands an empathetic and holistic approach to debt recovery, considering the vulnerability of the Housing Benefit client base. Your duties will include:Proactively pursuing debts through telephone or written communication and/or legal action.Ensuring objectives and targets are met within designated time frames.Providing advice and guidance to internal and external services on debt management.The Successful ApplicantThe successful Income Recovery Officer will have a good knowledge of debt legislation concerning the collection of Housing Benefit over payments and a track record of success in this area. Ideally you will have previous exposure to using either Northgate Housing Benefit system or SAP and previously worked as a Housing Benefit Officer/Over Payment Officer/Income Recovery Officer. Alongside your understanding of Housing Benefit legislation, strong communication skills (verbal and written) and attention to detail are essential.
