Working with Government, regulators and their members, they support the sector to responsibly navigate the ever-changing landscape, encouraging a fair and positive regulatory environment that encourages product innovation, and promotes the contribution that self-care can make to people's health at no cost to the NHS.Established in 1919, PAGB has a long and distinguished track record as the industry self-regulatory body ensuring balanced and responsible marketing of self-care products.Job DescriptionPart of the PAGB Management Team representing the Communications function and reporting to the CEO with 1 line report.Close collaboration with all PAGB functions to develop and deliver effective integrated communications plan to help shape the external environment in line with PAGB's strategy including regulatory policy/issues.Develop member communication plan which involves and updates members in PAGB's activities and inform them about industry issues through relevant and engaging communications and events.Generation and activation of key communication collateral such as yearly highlights reports, as well as other agreed output.Responsible for internal PAGB communications and ensuring the PAGB team are kept up to date with PAGB activities.Utilisation of media contacts to provide both proactive and reactive outreach to both National and Trade Press, UK regulators and key stakeholders.Responsible for development and maintenance of websites overseen and managed by PAGB, including eLearning platforms.Collaborate closely with Head of Public Affairs to ensure relevant understanding of public affairs and policy timelines, enabling seamless integration into communications strategy.Management of external agency and contractors supporting communication function and activation.Key Areas of Responsibility:1 StrategyContribute to and support the development of PAGB's overall objectives, strategy and organisation.Within the agreed strategy, to lead and ensure delivery of media, digital, stakeholder and member communications.Manage and enhance PAGB's external reputation, utilising all appropriate communications disciplines and channels.Within the agreed strategy, to support colleagues to deliver effective communications around regulatory policy/issues.Implement the agreed work programme and report on progress to the Board as and when required.2 Policy CommunicationKeep PAGB members routinely informed of relevant business and health policy developments and alerting them to specific issues that may impact their business.3 Stakeholder engagementManage key communications and media relationships with regulators, national and trade press and other trade / pharmacy associations/Represent PAGB in industry forums such as AESGP (European Self Medication Industry) and GSCF (Global Self Care Federation) to ensure their communications agendas are relevant and reflect PAGB member priorities.4 CommunicationsProactively manage PAGB's relationships with the media - national, consumer and trade press and social mediaDevelop and deliver PAGB's key messages via all media forms, achieving consensus from members and/or stakeholders as required.Generate and activate key communication collateral such as yearly highlights reports and self care census reports, as well as other agreed output.Horizon scanning and issues management to ensure fair and balanced coverage about OTC products in the media.Manage and raise awareness for specific PAGB policies and campaigns through the media.In collaboration with the regulatory team, manage communications for the defence of OTC ingredients.Build a year round integrated programme of events to communicate PAGB priorities and issues for members and external audiences.Develop and maintain PAGB's website and member communications to ensure members are engaged in PAGB's activities and kept informed of business and health policy developments.Advise and support PAGB members with media communications where appropriate.Oversee the Health and Food Supplements Information Service to deliver accurate and balanced information about nutrition and food supplements in the media.The Successful ApplicantWe are looking for someone that has the following:Significant media relations and digital communications experience within a UK healthcare setting and established relationships with national media.Ability, authority and confidence to work directly with senior stakeholders - e.g. health professionals, company executives, journalists.Good understanding of the interfaces between media and political communications.Proven experience of dealing with national and trade media, including drafting statements and press releases, handling media enquiries.What's on OfferUp to £65K plus excellent benefits (pro rata for three days per week).This permanent, part-time role requires a commitment of three days per week, with a hybrid working arrangement.
