Job Description

  • Developing and Communicating Financial Strategy: Lead the creation and communication of the organisation's financial strategy, ensuring alignment with overall goals and sustainability.
  • Budget Management: Collaborate with academy leaders to develop, monitor, and manage the annual budget, ensuring alignment with educational goals.
  • Service Delivery & Innovation: Continuously evaluate and improve financial services to meet strategic objectives and emerging sector trends.
  • Financial Oversight: Oversee financial systems, processes, and operations, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and effectiveness in financial management.
  • Risk and Capital Management: Work with leadership to develop strategies for capital expenditure and manage financial risks.
  • Stakeholder Relationship Management: Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, providing assurance and financial reports as required.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and motivate the finance team, ensuring high performance, recruitment, training, and development of staff.
  • Compliance & Reporting: Ensure statutory financial compliance, manage audits, and prepare necessary financial returns.
  • Pursuing Funding Opportunities: Identify and secure additional funding, grants, and resources to support the organisation's strategic objectives.



The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate will be a strategic and results-driven finance leader with extensive experience in financial management, ideally within the education or not for profit. They will possess strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and develop high-performing teams while driving financial excellence. The candidate will be highly analytical, with a solid understanding of financial strategy, budgeting, and risk management, as well as experience in financial reporting and compliance. Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities will be essential for collaborating with senior leadership, stakeholders, and external partners. A proactive mindset and a commitment to continuous improvement and innovation will be key to success in this role.
