Save Job Back to Search Job Description Summary Similar JobsPermanent Deputy Head of Financial AccountsExcellent support, development and trainingAbout Our ClientThe client is a well established University in South West London.Job DescriptionMain duties and responsibilities:AnnualYear End accounts - lead on the planning and delivery of a set of annual financial statements for the University and its subsidiaries for approval by senior management andSatisfy all audit requirements and submit returns to all external parties as required (OfS, Charity Commission, Companies House, etc.).Ensure financial statements comply with all external statutory requirements and best practice. Develop and maintain a strong professional relationship with the University's external auditors. Provide year-round technical accounting assistance and advice.Preparation of relevant external returns, in particular OfS returns, such as TRAC, HE-BCI, and AFR.QuarterlyReview/preparation of the balance sheet and cash flow forecast for the various forecasting cycles.Managing covenants to ensure compliance with the lender'sDevelop technical accounting papers to support judgements taken in the preparation of the year-end financials statements.MonthlyReview and approve the processing of month-end journals such as accruals for areas including fixed assets, depreciation, research, donations, investment interest, etc.Prepare or review the preparation of the balance sheet and cash flow forecast for the month-end accounts.Review the management and preparation of balance sheet reconciliations, including the actions taken to follow up on areas of concern and the review / final production of a monthly report on the balance sheet reconciliations for senior management review.Prepare and develop management information relating to the University's balance sheet and cash flow position. Act as the primary point of liaison with the University's banks and other investment managers. Prepare regular (monthly) and ad hoc reports on the performance of the University's investments and advise on options to improve performance. Act as a bankDaily/WeeklyReview the debtors' ageing on a weekly basis to assess the required level of bad and doubtful debt provision.Reviewing the operational side of the treasury monitoring and reporting function to ensure enough funds are available to meet the University's cash needs as well as ensuring excess funds are invested in line with the investment policy and monitoring of funds held on deposit Review and send the weekly Bacs payments and other electronic payments.General and ad-hocPromoting adherence to all Finance and University policies and procedures to ensure robust financial controls are in place.Ensuring that the financial data included in the University's systems are accurate and enable the proper analysis and provision of financial information.Being able to deputise and cover for the Head of Financial Accounting and other team members, as required.Approve payments from Accounts Payable and Payroll teams.The Successful ApplicantA recognised accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, ACMA, CIPFA).Good working knowledge of UK Financial Reporting Standard 102.Excellent analytical skills.Excellent technical accounting skills and their practical implementation and communication thereof.Familiarity with large-scale finance systems.
