Job Description

The Data Protection Manager will join the leading governance team and support the development of the data protection framework and manage the two information governance officers.

The responsibilities are to:

  • Develop and implement data protection policies and procedures in line with legal requirements.
  • Provide advice and guidance on data protection matters to internal teams and stakeholders.
  • Monitor compliance with GDPR and other relevant data protection regulations.
  • Conduct data protection impact assessments and risk evaluations.
  • Deliver training sessions to staff on data privacy best practices.
  • Respond to data subject access requests and manage breaches effectively.
  • Collaborate with the legal team to ensure alignment with organisational goals.
  • Maintain records of processing activities and update them as required.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Data Protection Manager should have:

  • A strong understanding of GDPR and data protection regulations.
  • Experience in creating and implementing data protection policies.
  • Knowledge of legal and regulatory frameworks within the not-for-profit sector and of special category data.
  • Ideally experience within the NHS or a healthcare provider would be helpful.
  • Management experience would be an advantage.
  • Proven ability to manage operational privacy matters - DPIAs, DPAs, Subject Access Requests.
  • Excellent communication skills for delivering training and guidance.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to handle sensitive information securely.
