About Our Client

The client is a well-established, globally recognised financial institution with a strong presence across EMEA and a clear commitment to data-driven transformation. You'll be joining a rapidly growing data office that's gaining real traction internally, with senior-level sponsorship, long-term investment in data strategy, and a rare opportunity to shape governance frameworks from the ground up.

Job Description

  • Deliver data governance initiatives across Risk and Finance aligned to BCBS239 requirements.

  • Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of critical data use cases, ensuring data is accurate, complete, and fit for purpose.

  • Drive adoption of data standards, definitions, and lineage documentation in collaboration with business and technology stakeholders.

  • Support the resolution of data quality issues by identifying root causes and recommending remediation at source.

  • Operate within a maturing data environment, helping to embed governance practices and influence cultural change.

  • Contribute to regulatory readiness efforts, including ECB onboarding where applicable.

  • Engage with senior stakeholders to promote understanding and buy-in for data governance initiatives.

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate will have solid experience in data governance within financial services, with a deep understanding of BCBS239 and its practical application across Risk and Finance functions. They'll be confident engaging senior stakeholders, able to explain complex data concepts clearly, and comfortable challenging the status quo in a constructive way. Experience supporting ECB onboarding is highly desirable. Technically hands-on, they will be capable of owning use cases end-to-end without relying on a team. A proactive mindset, strong analytical skills, and a collaborative approach are essential to thrive in this fast-evolving, high-impact role.

What's on Offer

This role offers a competitive daily rate of £400-£500, depending on experience, for an initial 6-month contract, with the potential for extension within a 2-3 year project. Candidates will gain exposure to high-level data governance initiatives within a major financial institution, offering an excellent opportunity to work with senior stakeholders and shape the data strategy across critical Risk and Finance domains. You'll have the flexibility to work 2-3 days per week in London, balancing the benefits of office collaboration with the convenience of remote working. Additionally, the role provides a unique chance to enhance your career by taking ownership of complex data use cases, making a tangible impact on a key data governance framework within a growing, data-driven team.
