Operating as part of a large organisation, it is committed to maintaining high standards in legal and administrative excellence.Job DescriptionThe Commercial Lawyer position will involve the following tasks:Advising on, negotiating and drafting a wide variety of public contracts and commercial agreements including those that facilitate the provision of financial supportSupporting due diligence work in connection with bids and investment by way of grant; debt, equity or joint ventureAdvising on the use, review and adaptation of standard form agreements including contracts for services, grants, consultancy contracts, and other corporate finance documentationAdvising on the interpretation and the enforcement of contracts and on potential disputesAdvising on company law and corporate governance in respect of wholly owned subsidiariesSupport and cover for colleagues within the Department as directed by the Senior Lawyer or Deputy Director of Legal Services or the Director of Legal ServicesProvide training in areas of expertise to client departmentsThe Successful ApplicantA successful Commercial Lawyer should have:A recognised legal qualification and eligibility to practise as a solicitor or barristerExtensive knowledge of commercial law and public sector procurement processesProven ability to draft and negotiate complex contracts and agreementsStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detailExcellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with stakeholdersA commitment to upholding the highest standards of professional integrityWhat's on OfferThis is a fixed term position for a minimum of 6 months.
