Job Description

  • Take charge of preparing and completing all group financial statements, including primary statements, accounting policies, and notes to the accounts.
  • Assist in developing financial plans that align with corporate and service strategies.
  • Help prepare financial papers and strategies for Cabinet and other committee meetings.
  • Deliver high-quality financial information, collaborating with budget holders to ensure smooth delivery of the annual budget.
  • Work closely with budget holders and key stakeholders to ensure accurate accruals and consistent reporting.
  • Assist with gathering and analysing information to support the coordination of the Group's Medium-Term Financial Plan and Capital Programme.
  • Provide essential financial management support to Directors, including overseeing budget management.

The Successful Applicant

The successful Accountant should have:

  • A finance qualification (CIMA, CIPFA, ACA or ACCA) with at least 2 years' experience at a senior level.
  • Experience of managing a finance team
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel financial modelling skills are essential
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and identify key insights
  • Solid understanding of financial principles, accounting standards, and valuation techniques
