About Our Client

The business are a high growth, private equity backed security services company who are looking to hire a Head of Brand and Consumer Insights into their growing marketing team in London. This is a new role which will be focused on leading on customer insights and brand building in order to increase their presence and sales across the UK.

Job Description

Key responsibilities of the Head of Brand and Consumer Insights:

  • Strategic Leadership:
    • Determine the core drivers we must work on to build the category of monitored, intervention-based alarm services and position the brand as market leader in the category.
    • Drive visibility and impact of Consumer Insights, Bring the Voice of the Consumer in business decisions across the UK&IE, focused on marketing & innovation initiatives, while sharing best practices with the wider organisation.
    • Deliver Consumer Insights with a data-driven attitude but based on high empathy for people and the human behaviours behind the numbers.
    • Develop and implement brand communication strategies that align with the company's overall marketing and business objectives.
    • Help define current and long-term goals for the Brand, Consumer Insights, and Communications teams.
    • Work with the Marketing Director and Managing Directors to define the long-term strategy for Marketing Consumer Insights within the UK&IE to keep driving its relevancy to support marketing & innovation, and its ability to impact the business (considering scope, responsibilities, team structure, etc)
  • Messaging and Content Creation:
    • Develop simple to understand messages that build on the core drivers identified.
    • Own end-to-end Insights delivery from all sources of data. This will include identifying sources of data available, finding ways to gather unavailable data, exploiting & analysing the data, extracting insights and connecting them to business applications, as well as crafting the messaging and content strategy to exploit them.
    • Collaborate with the Group Brand team to ensure alignment on wider company goals and strategy while maintaining the focus on delivering local success stories that can be shared and replicated in other markets.
    • Ensure consistency in brand messaging across all platforms and communications, and that all content adheres to brand guidelines and voice.
    • Create compelling and coherent brand messages that resonate with target audiences.
    • Oversee the development of content, including press releases, website copy, social media posts, and marketing materials.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Ensure insights are delivered in a simple, inspiring, and convincing way.
    • Ensure internal stakeholders are aligned with the brand's communication strategies and messaging.
    • Develop internal communication programs to keep employees informed and engaged.
    • Promote a consistent internal brand culture.
  • Media Relations and Public Relations:
    • Build and maintain relationships with media outlets, journalists, and influencers.
    • Develop and execute public relations campaigns to enhance brand visibility and reputation.
    • Handle crisis communication and manage the company's response to negative publicity.
    • Take control of organic social media - oversee the company's presence, strategise content and engagement campaigns, and monitor the brand.
  • Budget & Team Management:
    • Manage budget for brand communications campaigns, allocating resources efficiently to maximise impact and ROI.
    • Recruit, hire, and train the Brand, Consumer Insights, and Communications teams, while fostering collaboration between these teams and other relevant departments.

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate:

  • 5-7 years proven experience in branding, with a big plus for a proven track record in category shaping roles (opposed to market share gain focussed roles)
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a Mathematics or Science field. Statistics, Economics, Engineering or Business Management fields preferred. Master's degree is a plus.
  • Highly proficient in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong knowledge on advanced Market Research & Data Analysis techniques.
  • Reliable, autonomous, organised and able to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Highly analytical to distil data into information and recommendations.
  • Impeccable business communication & presentation skills.



Head of Consumer Insights & Branding Skills and Qualifications

  • 5 years working in a Market Research, Consulting, Strategy, or Data Analytics role.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and experience successfully implementing analytical solutions with real-world business impact.
  • Excellent written and verbal presentation skills with an ability to influence up to Director/Managing Director level
  • Strong empathy and ability to connect to the reality of people / emotions / actions that are behind consumer data (previous experience connected to Consumer Insights a plus)
  • Experience in treating high quantities sets of data to extract leanings & insights
  • Experience in data science projects such as regression models, decision trees, clusterisation, conjoint analyses, etc.
  • Experience in startups or fast paced environments. Versatility and agility with ability to be both technical and have a strategical business mindset
  • Demonstrate initiative and ownership of tasks and projects.
  • Ability to prioritize, coordinate and complete tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in team environments.
  • Will have worked in an FMCG or consumer services industry
