Job Description

A Way finding Planner, also known as a Way finding Strategist or Consultant, is a specialist responsible for creating clear and effective navigation systems in various environments.They analyse spaces, user journeys and circulation, identify potential obstacles, decision points, and develop strategies to guide people through buildings, campuses, cities, or other complex environments, using signage, maps, and other visual aids.For this position, they are looking for someone who is a passionate, innovative, and collaborative experiential designer.

This role will be to integrate graphic communication, cartography, branding, signage and way finding in fresh and creative ways for wide-ranging and high-profile projects. This role combines design, problem-solving, and understanding of human behaviour to ensure a positive and seamless user experience.Common and baseline responsibilities, including, but not limited to..Analysis and Planning:* Conducting site analysis to understand environmental and user behaviour.
* Identifying decision points, sight lines, and existing cues within the space.
* Developing comprehensive way finding strategies and design solutions.
* Identify primary, secondary and tertiary user journeys and circulationDesign and Implementation:* Designing signage systems based on identified sign typologies, including public realm, building and campus branding, entrance identification, maps, directories, and tenant boards.
* Working with the way finding design team to develop a visual language for the environment, including typography, iconography, cartography, colours, and patterns.
* Collaborating with architects, urban planners, and other stakeholders to integrate way finding systems into the environment.Communication and Collaboration:* Communicating way finding strategies and design solutions to clients, internal team members and other stakeholders.
* Working with way finding team and client project team to ensure the successful execution of way finding projects.
* Representing the professional standards of the design firm to clients and other stakeholders.Problem-Solving:* Identifying and addressing potential navigation challenges, such as confusing routes, poor visibility, or inaccessible areas.
* Developing creative solutions to improve navigation and enhance the user experience.

The Successful Applicant

General Proficiencies (including, but not limited to):* Strong understanding of design principles, including visual communication, spatial orientation, and information design.
* Ability to analyse and report complex environments and identify key navigation challenges.
* Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
* Proficiency in design software and other relevant tools.
* Experience in large-scale environmental graphic design projects.Frequently used software:* Knowledge of 2D/3D production software; Auto CAD and Vector works. (Advantage)
* Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite; In Design, Illustrator and Photo shop. (Necessary)
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook. (Necessary)
* 3D Software, such as Sketch Up (Advantage)
* Visualisation tools such as Enscape and VRay (Advantage)
* Conceptual modelling tools such as Rhino and Grasshopper (Advantage)
* Knowledge of Rhino, Premier Pro, HTML or After Effects a plusCertifications/Education:* A degree in Graphic Design, Interior Design, Architecture, or a related design field.
* LEED GA within 6 months of hire.
* Professional Accreditation in one area of Living Design that interests you: LEED AP with Specialty, BREEAM AP, WELL AP, SITES AP, Passive House Institute Certified Passive House Consultant/Designer CPHC/CPHD, ILFI Living Future Accreditation or RELi
