Job Description

  • Assist in balance sheet reconciliations, prepayments, accruals and forecasting
  • Monitor and manage accounts payable and receivable processes.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting activities.
  • Reconcile bank statements and ensure accuracy of financial data.
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns and other financial compliance documentation.
  • Provide support for internal and external audits.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
  • Collaborate with the wider accounting and finance team to improve processes and efficiency.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Assistant Accountant should have:

  • A background in accounting and finance, ideally within the retail industry.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Experience with accounting software and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • An eye for detail and excellent organisational skills.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement.
  • Relevant qualifications or progress towards professional accounting certification.
  • Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with stakeholders.
