The Association of School and College Leaders (ASCL) is the leading professional association and trade union for all school, college and trust leaders. We are proud to support and represent more than 25,000 leaders of primary, secondary and post-16 education from across the UK.
Our members are responsible for the education of more than four million young people and children. We work to shape national education policy, provides advice and support to our members and deliver first-class professional development.

Richard began as a history teacher and went on to accumulate over twenty years experience in school leadership, including head of sixth form, deputy headship and two headships. He has had three roles within ASCL; regional officer, assistant director of member support and presently director of member support.
Hayley is Director of Finance and Governance for ASCL, Company Secretary for ASCL PD Ltd and a key member of ASCL UK’s Leadership Group. Hayley works with our operations, finance, IT and membership teams, supporting our strategic outward-facing work and overseeing the essential processes and working of the Association.
Hayley’s background is in accountancy and finance, having worked in the private and public sectors. She is a qualified accountant and has held senior business leadership roles in the maintained and academies sector. She is the author of the School Business Manager’s Handbook.
