London 24 September 2014 – PageGroup, the global specialist recruitment company, is offering graduates and university students an opportunity to kick start their career through its two prominent Internship Programmes and Graduate Development Programme.
Established in the UK in 1976, PageGroup operates in 36 countries providing recruitment services and career opportunities on a local, regional and global level. PageGroup is offering invaluable work experience to graduates and university students to advance their skill sets and develop them into experienced recruitment consultants.
For university students, PageGroup offers two paid internships in its frontline business – term-time internships and summer internships. These internships are an opportunity to gain commercial experience and be exposed to the recruitment industry through real responsibility with market-leading and classroom-based training and support.
PageGroup CEO, Steve Ingham, reports that internships are an excellent way for students to uncover an unknown passion for sales and recruitment and develop new-found skills.
“By becoming a valued member of a team, we ensure our interns experience the fun, sociable, fast-paced and exciting environment of PageGroup. If they do well and impress, they could potentially be offered a position on our prestigious graduate development programme,” Mr Ingham said.
Past intern Dana Fowles, reports that her term-time internship suited her university timetable and provided valuable transferrable skills.
“Experience is the magic word uttered at every undergraduate career discussion. We students are constantly reminded that our degrees aren’t enough to secure the careers of our dreams, whereas practice in the real world is CV gold. PageGroup pays all of its interns a competitive wage and it’s refreshing to work somewhere where I’m rewarded for my time and hard work.
“The projects I’ve worked on have significantly helped me improve my communication and team building skills, as well as developing my commercial awareness of the recruitment industry. It’s really rewarding knowing you are helping people in their future career. I definitely don’t spend hours making tea and coffee all day!” Ms Fowles said.
Regional Talent Director, Angela Webb, reports that fast-track advancement is common at PageGroup and performance is widely recognised and properly rewarded.
“The fastest period of time in which a graduate has been promoted to manager is an outstanding 23 months. We work in a competitive, sales driven environment, so rewards and recognition of hard work is an extremely important aspect of our business. We strive to maintain a business rich in diverse people, talent and ideas where our employees can work together, feel valued and in turn add value to the company,” Ms Webb said.
The programme has assisted over 300 graduates to become business leaders, many of which are now managers and directors at PageGroup. Graduates receive industry leading sales and management training, as well as establish a comprehensive understanding of the commercial world and recruitment.
“As a company we strongly believe in growth from within. We recruit high calibre graduates, teaching them commercial skills, helping them to develop throughout their career, whilst identifying and mentoring our future leaders,” Mrs Webb added.
