Are you a passionate and experienced specialist in adult social care commissioning? A leading public sector organisation in the North West is seeking an interim Specialist Commissioner to join their Adults Commissioning Team on a 3-month assignment, with a strong focus on Learning Disabilities, Mental Health, and Neurodiversity, plus support to Older People's commissioning.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities



  • Drive innovative commissioning strategies and improve service models.


  • Work across health and social care partnerships to ensure integrated, effective service delivery.


  • Oversee complex contract management and high-value commissioning budgets.


  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders, residents, and providers to shape service delivery.


  • Provide strategic oversight and leadership to a multi-disciplinary commissioning team.

The Successful Applicant

What We're Looking For



  • Proven background as a lead commissioner in adult social care, mental health, or VCFSE services.


  • Compassionate leadership with the ability to inspire and drive performance.


  • Strong understanding of commissioning models, data-led decision making, and budget management.


  • Project management experience and a recognised professional qualification (degree or equivalent).


  • Ability to engage confidently with senior stakeholders and those with lived experience.


  • Flexibility to attend in-person meetings at Trafford Town Hall at least 2 days per week.
