About Our Client

My client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Paralegal/Legal Executive - Wayleaves & Land Rights /// Land Rights Officer, ideally with a strong background in the Electric Vehicles industry or Utility Sector to join their growing team. As a Land Rights Officer, you will play a pivotal role in expediting the delivery of EV charge points across the UK. You will collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders to drive the successful implementation of charge point projects. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, an effective communicator, and a passionate advocate for sustainable transportation solutions.

Job Description

  • Securing of Land Rights: Identify the need for easements, wayleaves, and other necessary land rights with landowners and third parties and assist in the negotiating of heads of terms. Ensure all land rights are secured in a timely manner to facilitate the installation and operation of EV charge points.
  • Line Management: You will be responsible for the management of a small team who will require clear, defined instructions on how to best obtain consents and where responsibilities lie. You will need to take on the line management responsibilities which are in line with the HR processes.
  • Project Coordination: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including external IDNO/DNO partners to oversee the end-to-end delivery of EV charge point projects, ensuring timely implementation, budget adherence, and alignment with client objectives.
  • Issue Resolution: Act as a point of contact and escalation for clients, addressing any concerns, issues, or escalations promptly and collaboratively. You may be required to attend meetings with perspective Landowners.
  • Land Registry: You will be responsible for raising land enquiries and have good experience using the land registry platforms to secure accurate information and raising land enquiries to proceed with consents.
  • Reporting: Generate regular reports and updates for clients and internal stakeholders, highlighting project progress, key performance indicators, and areas for improvement. You will be involved in weekly update meetings whereby reports and necessary updates will be shared.

The Successful Applicant

  • Proven experience (3+ years) as a Land Rights Officer, ideally in the Electric Vehicle industry or related Utility sectors. Experience of working with DNOs is a plus.
  • A robust understanding of the legal and statutory requirements of IDNO/DNOs and be able to apply the same when initiating contact with landowners.
  • Strong understanding of EV charging infrastructure, market dynamics, and government incentives in the UK. Knowledge of UK property law is a plus
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and collaborate, convey complex information clearly, and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a track record of developing and implementing successful account strategies.
  • Project management skills, including the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Negotiation skills, with a proven ability to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Proficiency in relevant software and tools, including CRM systems and Microsoft Office Suite
