In the UK, Safran Seats specialises solely in the First Class and Business Class seating markets for wide body aircraft, with industrial and engineering teams in Cwmbran and Newport, Wales and Brackley, England.

Our in-house design studio co-creates the most innovative experiences in the sky with our airline customers and partners. Our dedicated engineering, production and in-service support facilities are integral to delivering a high-end quality product that we keep flying throughout the life of programme. We are fully supported by a wide team of support functions, from HR to Finance, to Business Development and Planning and Logistics, our team is built to give Safran Seats an end-to-end capability in house in the UK.

Job Description

 Responsible for the design and detail modeling of a variety of suite components to meet programme requirements
 Produce designs to meet specified cost/weight targets
 Design Engineers will be expected to communicate effectively and professionally with customers and suppliers.
 Participate in Design Reviews throughout each phase of the New Product Introduction process
 The selection and application of materials and processes appropriate to each design element
 Ensure the successful integration of each design element within the product as a whole
 Check engineering packages
 Participate in the validation of the product (using such methods as prototyping, test, DFMEA)
 Follow and contribute to the development of the Best Practice guidelines
 From time to time, Design Engineers must be prepared to undertake tasks outside of their normal duties as requested by their immediate supervisors.

The Successful Applicant

Educated to Degree level within an Engineering capacity
Extensive experience of working within mechanical design, all industries considered
Excellent problem solving skills
Experience of using CAD software - CATIA V5 would be desirable but others will be considered
Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written.
