We are delivering on the big transport improvements people in the region need and deserve, changing how people travel, making journeys affordable, reliable, enjoyable, and safe.As a senior member of the Commercial team you will be responsible for developing and implementing commercial and supply chain management strategies to deliver projects worth over £1billion from Government funding. You will be joining the Commercial team at an exciting time. During the next couple of years, the team will be procuring a number of significant infrastructure programmes across rail, road and transport operations in order to deliver its key strategic outcomes. As a key member of the team, you will lead on driving commercial expertise across the Infrastructure directorate.Job DescriptionYour key responsibilities in this role would be to ensure a focus on delivering the priorities of the Metro Mayor by:Developing sourcing and procurement activities that support key business objectives.Developing and executing a long-term strategy to facilitate improvements for Procurement Services.Ensuring the execution of procurement strategies across the Combined Authority to ensure consistent and high-quality value delivery.Implementing best practices in procurement and supplier management to support commercial and operational objectives.Ensuring the execution of standards, controls, policies, procedures and performance metrics to effectively and efficiently manage the acquisition and reporting of third-party spend across the Combined Authority.The Successful ApplicantThe successful candidate will need to demonstrate the following experience:Extensive commercial management experience in the delivery of large-scale infrastructure and transport major projects (£multi-billion)Commercial management of significant construction/transport contracts and negotiating contact changesPresenting complex information to a range of key stakeholders to secure buy-in and engagementExperience of establishing and growing both commercial and procurement services, particularly in an infrastructure delivery environmentExperience of detailed analysis of data relating to the review of costs and savingsProviding coaching and mentoring at a management level to support the embedding of a value for money cultureA successful track record of engaging effectively with others at a senior level and building productive partnerships with key stakeholdersWhat's on OfferSalary £60,204 - £65,85826/31 days annual Leave (5 extra days after 5 years continuous or reckonable service)Generous Employer-Contribution Pension SchemeReduced fare bus travel across the West of EnglandFlexible and hybrid working options from day one to ensure you achieve the best work/life balance and career goals.
