Job Description

As a Senior Category Lead you will;

  • Provide strategic direction and leadership to the Procurement and Supply Chain department.
  • Implement innovative procurement strategies that deliver value for money and efficiency.
  • Manage and build relationships with key stakeholders both internally and externally.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team within the department.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant procurement legislation and best practice.
  • Oversee the effective management of contracts and suppliers.
  • Develop and manage the department's budget.
  • Lead the development and implementation of category strategies.
  • You will be responsible for; the strategic drive of the procurement team workload.
  • lead in the high risk high value procurement's including Capital, IT, Estates and Clinical.
  • Will analyse spend and contract data to identify and deliver CIP and non-CIP savings.
  • Will develop a future procurement plan and be accountable for the activities of the category team.
  • Will ensure that the category resource is utilised in the most effective and efficient way.
  • Will be the procurement expert for the category and ensure that at all times there is compliance with Public Contract Regulations
  • Will develop strong working relationships with all stakeholders, both internal and external of the organisation promoting a culture of shared responsibility for procurement issues within the context of the overall objectives
  • Will provide procurement and contract support and guidance to the category team.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Senior Category Manager should have:

  • A degree in Business, Procurement, Supply Chain Management or a related field.
  • You MUST have proven experience in a category role within Procurement and Supply Chain- Public Sector.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Extensive knowledge of procurement legislation and best practice.
