Job Description

  1. Conducting Building Surveys:
    Examining buildings thoroughly to assess their condition, identify any defects, and provide expert advice on their repair or improvement.
  2. Project Management: Quickly adopt and manage a wide range of projects, ensuring efficient delivery through established processes.
  3. Interdepartmental Engagement: Collaborate with various service areas to ensure cohesive project execution.
  4. Environmental and Sustainability Expertise: Provide advice and expertise on environmental and sustainability issues, ensuring projects align with these principles.
  5. Critical Evaluation: Challenge and assess project decisions to ensure they are the right course of action.
  6. Construction Project Management: Oversee construction projects, ensuring they interlink with facilities management without overlapping with the Facilities Project Manager's role.
  7. Brief Writing: Develop clear and concise project briefs to guide project execution.

The Successful Applicant

The ideal candidate for the Senior Building Surveyor role will have substantial experience in building surveying and construction project management. They should reside within a 90-minute commute from Surrey to ensure accessibility. Initially hired for a 6-month interim period, the role has the potential to extend up to 2 years. The candidate should be available to work in the office at least three days a week, with flexibility for hybrid working due to the numerous projects coming to fruition. They must be adept at quickly adopting and managing a wide range of projects, engaging with various service areas, and providing expertise on environmental and sustainability issues. Additionally, they should possess strong skills in writing project briefs and critically evaluating project decisions.
