They design and manufacture components used across a wide range of industries, from healthcare and electronics to automotive and renewable energy.Job DescriptionWorking with a diverse range of international customers, this leadership position will work closely with internal manufacturing sites based in the UK and in Germany and with commercial teams based in Asia Pacific and North America.The role also requires close working relationships with colleagues in Operations, R&D, Marketing and Product Management. The Sales Director will play a key role in developing the Industrial strategy for the relevant markets and where appropriate, deploy new strategies to grow the business.They will be expected to quickly develop an understanding of the existing customer base and work with the in-house sales team to build, manage and deliver the opportunity pipeline.A significant part of the role will be focused on coaching and developing the sales team to advance the sales culture and ensure they are best placed to maximise the opportunities presented in the markets and are effectively collaborating across the business.Further responsibilities include:-Successfully lead, motivate and manage a global sales team within the defined markets to grow the business via existing relationships and new business development.Create and build strong, professional relationships with key influencers and decision makers within those accounts that have key strategic value - both current accounts and new target companies.Understand the trends of the defined markets and apply this knowledge to identify and execute appropriate sales strategies.Coach the sales team members to create a well-developed sales team that can proactively identify, develop, and close opportunities.Manage escalations when necessary to ensure timely and positive resolution balancing the needs of the customer and the business.Achieve clarity and understanding of the sales funnel. This is achieved by a combination of using sales technology, analysing data, obtaining business intelligence from the sales team, and coaching the team.Positively collaborate with internal functions such as Operations, Innovation & Technology, Business Line Management and Customer Services to make sure their teams have what they need to deliver to customer requirements.Prepare annual budget proposals and engage in budgetary discussions and management.The Successful ApplicantThe successful Sales Director will:-Proven track record within Sales leadership in an international environmentHighly advantageous to have experience of the relevant markets or in similar markets with similar go to market model, sales cycles and customer trends.Proven track record of developing new business and establishing collaborative and value-based relationships with external customers.Demonstrable experience of contributing to and leading the delivery of sustained sales growth.Demonstrate technical affinity to work effectively with the product portfolio.Experience of collaborating with cross functional colleagues to deliver results.Numerate - ability to analyse key business and financial metrics to support commercial business decisions.Educated to degree level of equivalent in Engineering or Science based subjects highly advantageous, for example materials science, mechanical or electronic engineering.Ability to travel regularly, predominately across mainland Europe and also worldwide.Demonstrate working experience of using a CRM.
