I am seeking a highly motivated Production Manager to oversee the operations in a busy manufacturing plant in Herefordshire. You will be responsible for 10 direct reports, along with a wider team of 100+. You will responsible for driving output, training & development of staff & ensuring a lean manufacturing approach to your job.

Job Description

  • Provide leadership to a team of supervisors/team leaders, fostering alignment with company objectives and values.
  • Mentor and guide supervisors/team leaders to excel in their roles, ensuring effective team leadership and collaboration.
  • Develop and nurture a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Co-ordinate, manage and motivate direct reports, and all shop floor employees, to achieve the planned invoiced sales schedules on due dates, to the specified quality, at minimum production/packing costs.
  • Plan the direct labour and associated resources, to achieve the scheduled production, taking account of holidays. The authorisation for overtime working and for the requisition of temporary and permanent resources, as appropriate. This will include as a minimum, monthly capacity planning for each area.
  • Develop and execute training programs to ensure the production team/s are equipped with the skills and knowledge to excel. The target must be significant versatility across tasks, cells, departments, and sites.
  • Oversee onboarding processes to ensure a seamless integration for new team members
  • In all work that we do, priority should be given to eliminating problems, error proofing processes and product design to prevent quality problems. Inspection should be used as a last resort.
  • Utilise standardized work, work element sheets, care points and control plans as required to embed quality in everything we do and as the first step on the road to lean manufacturing systems.
  • Recommend the capital purchase of factory equipment and ensure that all works equipment is properly maintained



39 Hours/Week

Monday - Thursday 08:00 - 17:00

Friday 08:00 - 16:00

The Successful Applicant

You will be an experienced Production/Shift Manager from a manufacturing background, along with the following:

  • Some recognised training in Supervisory/Management would be desirable
  • Lean/CI training or certification would be desirable
  • Proven leadership and management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and industry standards.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
