The Lead Manufacturing Engineer will oversee and drive Zero Defects within engineering and manufacturing processes, ensuring operational efficiency and quality in Redditch. This temporary role requires a results-driven professional with a strong background in the industrial/manufacturing sector.

Job Description

  • Developing a standard approach for selecting the priority improvements
  • Soliciting ideas from workforce, analysis of quality data, SMA reviews, customer complaints, audit findings, PFMEA, process walks, benefit /effort analysis, Standards gaps, etc.
  • Assigning resource to the priority projects, ensuring leaders/ teams have the required skills and support to deliver each projects
  • Driving the development of people to close any Zero Defect toolset skills gaps required to deliver improvement projects

The Successful Applicant

A successful Lead Manufacturing Engineer should have:

  • Experience working in a manufacturing engineering role in aerospace, defense, automotive or high-spec industrial environments.
  • Engineering project management experience with a thorough understanding of the associated tools and techniques
  • Strong understanding of process control and process capability, including the use of statistical tools to validate and monitor production stability
  • Demonstrated experience in leading business performance and continuous improvement initiatives focused on Zero Defects.
  • In-depth knowledge APQP core tools including PPAP, PFMEA, MSA, SOPs
  • Significant experience with 8D/DMAIC problem-solving methodologies and VSM (Value Stream Mapping)
  • Excellent analytical skills, able to analyse business KPI's, process capability data, audit results, stakeholder feedback, etc. to identify and quantify process improvement opportunities
