Junior Infrastructure Engineer

As part of the infrastructure team, the ideal candidate will assist with the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the infrastructure systems and software, including security, backup processes and procedures, contribute to the implementation of upgrades and new systems, and provide 2nd and 3rd line service desk support for live systems and software.

Job Description

  • Identify operational problems and work with other to find resolutions, ensuring outcomes are documented.
  • Carry out agreed operational procedures, including support, installation, configuration, upgrades, backups, restores, decommissioning and maintenance.
  • Proactively monitors systems, including backups and interfaces., investigates and resolves problems.
  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot SQL instances and associated Databases.
  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot cloud-based services and integrations.
  • Uses standard management and reporting tools to monitor and manage storage utilisation, performance, and backup statistics.
  • Monitor's security best practices / operations to ensure effective standards are maintained and investigates with SOC (Security Operations Centre) where necessary.
  • Assist with the implementation of changes based on requests for change. Including the preparation of change requests according to current procedures.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of standards, procedures and policies related to the infrastructure, installations, backups, and disaster recovery.
  • Liaises with third party suppliers to enable commitments to be met on services or projects they are delivering.
  • Be an active part of Project Teams as required, providing support as identified.
  • Develop and maintain professional working relationships with strategic vendors and colleagues across the organisation.

The Successful Applicant

Key Skills:

  • Experience with Microsoft Azure/Azure AD and Office 365 incl. End Point, ATP
  • Microsoft Windows server and architecture (AD, DHCP, DNS, Group Policy)
  • An understanding in networking incl. firewalls, routers, VLANS etc



Desirable:

  • Intune, Managing Images/builds and deployment.
  • Citrix
  • Linux
  • Microsoft Security standards and implementation.
