Job Description

This role is part of a division supporting banking supervisors and prudential policy with expert advice and analysis, contributing to broader policy functions such as stress testing major UK banks. Within the division, the team advises the PRA on IRB rating systems, credit risk measurement, decision-making, impairment, stress testing models, and reviews firms' RWA projections for concurrent stress testing programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate, challenge and review mortgage portfolios to identify potential risks.
  • Develop and implement risk management strategies.
  • Liaise with other departments to ensure compliance with risk policies and regulations.
  • Prepare and present reports on mortgage risk findings and recommendations.
  • Keep abreast of changes in regulations and industry practices related to mortgage risk.
  • Provide guidance and training to other team members on risk review methods.
  • Participate in internal and external audits.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the risk management framework.

The Successful Applicant

  • Significant experience in mortgage credit model development and/or validation within firms with substantial mortgage lending businesses, consultancies, or regulatory bodies.
  • Excellent knowledge of techniques used in developing mortgage IRB models, including relevant IRB requirements (e.g., CRR, Supervisory Statements), governance, and validation processes.
  • Understanding of Mortgage IRB modelling or Wholesale IRB modelling as part of Credit risk modelling skill set
  • Experience spanning; Probability of Default, Loss Given Default, Repossession modelling, Residential Mortgages, SS11/13 and/or IRB
  • Active, Current SC Clearance OR willingness to obtain clearance.
  • Consistent track record of independent or team-based work to deliver against tight deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate results of quantitative analysis clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences, verbally and in writing.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across boundaries and engage effectively with staff at all levels.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion.
  • Quantitative skills acquired in relevant roles.
