Job Description

As the Financial Controller, you will be a pivotal part of the management team, responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the business. Your duties will include:

  • Leading the finance function, ensuring robust financial controls are in place
  • Preparing monthly management accounts and financial reports
  • Budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning to support strategic decision-making
  • Managing cash flow, working capital, and monitoring financial performance
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant financial regulations and reporting standards
  • Overseeing payroll, VAT returns, tax, and year-end audits
  • Liaising with external stakeholders such as banks, auditors, and HMRC
  • Managing and mentoring a small finance team, providing guidance and development



The Successful Applicant

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience as an interim Financial Controller, ideally within the construction or related industries
  • ACCA, CIMA, ACA, or equivalent qualification
  • Strong understanding of financial regulations, tax, and audit processes
  • Experience with project-based accounting and cost control in the construction sector
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and leadership skills to interact with both financial and non-financial stakeholders
  • Proficiency in relevant financial software (experience with construction-specific systems is a plus)
