Job Description

  • Lead the Accounting & Finance department, providing strategic financial advice.
  • Ensure financial sustainability and robust financial management within the organisation.
  • Drive the development and implementation of financial strategies and plans.
  • Oversee financial systems, ensuring they are fit for purpose and comply with legislative requirements.
  • Report on financial performance to the Chief Financial Officer and other stakeholders.
  • Support the Head of Finance in the role of Deputy 151 officer.
  • Contribute to the overall leadership and management of the organisation.
  • Maintain current knowledge of public sector finance, regulations and best practice.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Interim Deputy Head of Finance + Deputy 151 officer should have:

  • A professional accounting qualification, CIPFA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA
  • Experience in a senior finance role within the Local Authority sector.
  • Excellent knowledge of Local Authority sector finance, regulations and best practice.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Excellent strategic thinking and planning skills.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage with a range of stakeholders.
