The Interim Contracts Manager requires a strategic approach to managing contracts, ensuring compliance, and achieving value for money on behalf of a large Local Authority based in Yorkshire. The team manage 5 schools PFI contracts for 16 schools. Our client are seeking someone to be responsible for the operational delivery, management and co-ordination of 2 of these facility management contracts and have input into the other school contracts as required.

Job Description

  • To take responsibility for the operational delivery, management and co-ordination of contracts as identified by the Contracts Manager.
  • Ensure systematic processes and procedures are in place to manage contracts ensuring effective performance monitoring and evaluation against contract delivery requirements. This will include forming and reviewing KPI's, ensuring performance information is provided and reviewed, and managing any performance credit or deduction payment mechanisms.
  • Ensuring supplier and customer relationship management is in place and applied over the life of the contract. Be responsible for relationships and deal with issues.
  • Supporting the senior manager in working with the contractor and client to ensure there is service delivery planning, continuous improvement and benefit realisation and reporting.
  • Take the lead for change management, risk management, dispute resolution, document management, contingency planning, exit planning, managing key contractual events.
  • Be responsible for supplier performance issues (cost, quality, delivery etc); monitor and report on supplier performance.
  • Ensuring supplier and customer relationship management is in place and applied over the life of the contract. Be responsible for relationships and deal with issues.
  • Specific site related activity, monthly contract meetings, meetings with the schools on a half term basis, ad-hoc site visits to undertake performance reviews and audits.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Interim Contracts Manager should have:

  • Excellent knowledge of public sector procurement regulations.
  • Preferably experience working with PFI Contracts
  • Strong contract management and negotiation skills within facilities management
  • The ability to develop and implement procurement strategies.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills.
  • The ability to lead a team and promote a positive work environment.
