The Housing Services officer will be responsible for managing and coordinating properties within the client portfolio. This includes liaising with management committees and tenants, handling day-to-day issues, ensuring that properties are maintained to a high standard and providing support to co-operative management committees and attending their meetings.

Job Description

As the Housing Services Officer, you will:

  • Oversee and manage the property portfolio effectively.
  • Coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure timely repairs and maintenance.
  • Address tenant queries and concerns promptly.
  • Maintain accurate property records and documentation.
  • Conduct regular property inspections to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with the property team to develop and implement property management strategies.
  • Handle rent collections and ensure timely payments.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and reports.
  • Support with allocation of properties
  • Support day-to-day management of properties in the client's portfolio

The Successful Applicant

A successful Housing Services Officer should have:

  • A housing degree or in a similar field such as social work, public administration, or property management. If no degree, other housing qualifications or housing experience will be taken into consideration.
  • Previous experience in a similar role within a housing association or local authority.
  • Knowledge of Co-operative Housing, voluntary management committees or similar is desirable but not essential.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of housing legislation and regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a diverse workload.
  • Will need to be happy to work on a part-time basis which will be 21 hours per week with some out of hours meetings too
  • The ability to be in an office in Kent on a regular basis and also travelling to London for meetings in and out of standard working hours
