Our client is a well known band with the Hotel Sector.

Job Description

This is a varied in-house legal role, providing guidance and advice on the whole spectrum of legal matters across the group and its portfolio. This hands-on role will cover real estate, commercial contracts, compliance, GDPR and some company secretarial work.

This will include:

  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating various commercial contracts and agreements including HMA and franchise agreements and key clause negotiations on large commercial contracts at hotel level
  • Balancing the need for external counsel vs. undertaking work in-house i.e. knowing what and when to outsource
  • Reviewing and revising NDAs, leases and other agreements, in conjunction with local counsel where appropriate, to protect the company's interests
  • Monitoring and managing group IP
  • Managing company secretarial tasks across all jurisdictions, including filing accounts and maintaining statutory registers
  • Supporting the business on general governance matters in line with best practice governance standards.
  • Working with GDPR compliance at group and hotel level to ensure compliance and risk management
  • Communicating with, and managing, any third-party bodies such as external counsel or company secretarial service providers

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate will be a lawyer, qualified in England & Wales (or an equivalent Common Law Jurisdiction).

The will be likely to have circa 7-10 years post-qualification experience (in-house or private practice) in corporate commercial law, with a strong focus on hospitality and/or real estate transactions

They will have:

  • A proven track record of negotiating complex contracts and advising on commercial decisions with significant business impact across multiple areas
  • A strong understanding of risk management, compliance, and governance;
  • Hands-on approach to legal work and comfortable working across multiple areas of law and jurisdictions



Desirable:

Knowledge of UK and EU Data Protection and Information Security principles

Experience with data breach and information incident investigations

This is a part-time role c. 25 to 30 hours per week. This role needs to be close to the business and the successful candidate will be required to work from the office in Central London for at least part of their working week
