This hands-on role will cover real estate, commercial contracts, compliance, GDPR and some company secretarial work.This will include:Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating various commercial contracts and agreements including HMA and franchise agreements and key clause negotiations on large commercial contracts at hotel levelBalancing the need for external counsel vs. undertaking work in-house i.e. knowing what and when to outsourceReviewing and revising NDAs, leases and other agreements, in conjunction with local counsel where appropriate, to protect the company's interestsMonitoring and managing group IPManaging company secretarial tasks across all jurisdictions, including filing accounts and maintaining statutory registersSupporting the business on general governance matters in line with best practice governance standards.Working with GDPR compliance at group and hotel level to ensure compliance and risk managementCommunicating with, and managing, any third-party bodies such as external counsel or company secretarial service providersThe Successful ApplicantThe successful candidate will be a lawyer, qualified in England & Wales (or an equivalent Common Law Jurisdiction).The will be likely to have circa 7-10 years post-qualification experience (in-house or private practice) in corporate commercial law, with a strong focus on hospitality and/or real estate transactionsThey will have:A proven track record of negotiating complex contracts and advising on commercial decisions with significant business impact across multiple areasA strong understanding of risk management, compliance, and governance;Hands-on approach to legal work and comfortable working across multiple areas of law and jurisdictionsDesirable:Knowledge of UK and EU Data Protection and Information Security principlesExperience with data breach and information incident investigationsThis is a part-time role c. 25 to 30 hours per week.
