A leading food manufacturer in Staffordshire is looking for an established Health, Safety and Environmental Manager to lead HSE strategy and drive ongoing improvement. This business is committed to investing in their people and embedding best practice across the site. You will be a crucial part of the site leadership team and ensure HSE remains a focus across the operation.

Job Description

This business has a strong market presence and is committed to driving improvement and further developing their site performance. As Head of Health, Safety & Environmental Manager you will be instrumental in leading the site and supporting the wider operation in delivering sustainable HSE standards and processes. You will be developing and implementing HSE initiatives across the site.Key Responsibilities:

  • Management of the health and safety department, providing competent health and safety guidance and leadership to all stakeholders across the site.
  • Strategic lead for health and safety matters ensuring a robust approach to risk assessment, audit and inspection.
  • Development of policy, ensuring teams across the site are working in accordance with legislative requirements.
  • Lead the site in ensuring environmental sustainability and the health and well-being of the workforce.
  • Drive engagement cross functionally and at all levels in the business ensuring deterrence to the HSE standards and driving a positive effective health and safety culture.
  • Move the business to an independent culture through inspired leadership of the HSE agenda.
  • Develop relationships with external HSE bodies to ensure a collaborative working relationship.
  • Prepare, monitor & analyse health, safety and environmental trends, identifying corrective actions.
  • Work with the wider senior management team to implement and promote systems and processes that further the Health & Safety culture.
  • Implementing and monitoring accident and incident investigation, reporting and analysis.
  • Contribute to wider site continuous improvement projects outside of HSE

The Successful Applicant

This is a great opportunity for a HSE Manager with experience within food manufacturing looking to take on a strategic role, shaping and developing the HSE culture of a business committed to improvement.The successful applicant will have:

  • A NEBOSH Diploma ideally (Certificate or advanced HSE training/qualifications will be considered)
  • A proactive approach to HSE matters
  • The ability to implement new ideas and procedures across the site, able to influence and engage key stakeholders at all levels of the organisation
  • Demonstrable experience leading a successful Health and Safety department
  • Collaborative working style, working effectively cross functionally
  • The ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organisation

What's on Offer

  • Circa £55,000 and £60,000 per annum.
