Job Description

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for the data function, aligning data strategies with business objectives and fostering a data-driven culture across the organisation.
  • Lead a high-performing team, providing quality assurance, expert guidance, and support in all areas of data governance, business intelligence, and data quality.
  • Oversee the design, development, and implementation of a comprehensive data strategy, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and broad support from stakeholders.
  • Act as the organisation's strategic lead for data governance, creating a robust framework to manage and safeguard data across systems and departments.
  • Manage and lead the Business Intelligence function, ensuring the availability, reliability, and integrity of business intelligence insights and reporting.
  • Ensure that data needed for regulatory reporting is provided to business owners and that all data-related commitments are met.
  • Drive improvements in data quality, advocating for the adoption of the UK Housing Data Standard, and managing the use of data quality tools and processes.
  • Provide strategic technical expertise in areas including Business Intelligence (BI) report development, data engineering, information governance, and data quality management.
  • Manage budgets effectively, ensuring that resources are allocated appropriately to deliver high-quality data services that meet the organisation's needs.
  • Monitor and report on the performance of the data function, providing regular updates to the Chief Information Officer and other key stakeholders.

The Successful Applicant

  • Experience of delivering either data warehouse, or a data lake and data lakehouse solutions.
  • Proven experience leading and managing effective data functions, including data governance, business intelligence, and quality improvements.
  • Expertise in implementing data strategies and frameworks within a large organisation.
  • In-depth knowledge of data governance standards and best practices, with experience establishing governance processes for structured and unstructured data.
  • Demonstrable experience in improving data quality and using metrics to drive continuous improvement.
  • Strong knowledge of data management tools, particularly Power BI, and a clear understanding of data engineering, ETL design, and reporting solutions.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage and influence colleagues at all levels, both technical and non-technical.
  • Visionary and innovative, with proven experience exploring emerging technologies and trends to advance the data function.
