Line management, coaching and development of the Finance Officer and Finance AssistantResponsibility for all day to day operational finance mattersProcessing of the monthly payrollReview of payment runs prepared by the Finance Officer and Finance AssistantCash flow forecasting for the groupReview of VAT returns prepared by the Finance Officer and submission to HMRC after discussion and review with the Finance DirectorPreparation of the Office for Students Annual Financial Return for review by the Finance DirectorPreparation of the financial aspects of the Charity Commission Annual Return for review by the Finance DirectorPreparation of monthly management accounts, including review of journals and reconciliations prepared by the Finance Officer and Finance AssistantPrincipal point of contact for the auditors for the year end audit and preparation of the lead schedules and statutory accountsIntegral part of the budgeting process in conjunction with the Finance DirectorSubmission of Gift Aid claimsParticipation in project work as requiredThe Successful ApplicantFull qualification of either ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent - essentialAt least 4 years' post qualification experience - essentialExtensive management accounts experience - essentialExperience of supervising Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable staff - essentialAt least basic treasury experienceExperience of working in the charity sector and the relevant accounting and tax regulations applying to charities, including VAT, would be an advantage but is not essentialExperience of commercial and retail operations, including stock management an advantageExperience of the preparation and submission of VAT returns.Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft ExcelSystems experience - ideally Sage 50 but also experience of other systems interfacing with the main accounting system.
