This is an opportunity to develop a HSE team across multiple sites and create a best practice infrastructure underneath you. You will also be supporting with the definition and delivery of a well thought out growth strategy; adding value as the business strives for operational excellence.

Job Description

As the HSE Director you have the chance to drive change and lead the company's HSE improvement initiatives. You will be tasked with leading the development and execution of the business' health & safety, environmental management vision. Working closely with Site Directors and to guide and develop the local HSE teams.

You will also be responsible for the following:

  • Establish and drive objectives, practices and procedures, ensuring successful implementation and integration of robust HSE management systems
  • Build and embed a safety culture by identifying and overcoming barriers to improving safety behaviour in a sustainable way across all the plants
  • Be the subject matter expert for all operational HSE matters across the division
  • Own and drive the safety culture transformation projects
  • Further develop HSE strategies, standards, programmes and plans in partnership with the HSE leadership team
  • Communicate and co-ordinate the adoption of industry best practices in HSE across all plants
  • Liaise with all stakeholders to ensure consistent approaches to HSE
  • Coach, develop and mentor a team HSE Managers/Advisors in order to cement best practice
  • Improve HSE oversight through audits and reviews of manufacturing activities and track performance
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives, developing the company's HSE management system and maintaining/developing ISO45001 certifications
  • Develop HSE structure to include supporting roles to enhance the overall H&S culture across the business
  • Work as part of a wider global HSE leadership team to deliver strong performance and embed innovative practices
  • Establish strategy and best practices for staff to ensure achievement of overall business objectives, working with the divisional teams to translate strategy into specific annual performance goals and KPIs

THIS ROLE HAS A FLEXIBLE BASE AS IT WILL REQUIRE UK & EUROPEAN TRAVEL

The Successful Applicant

An HSE professional with multi-site manufacturing experience (ideally 3 or more sites).

The successful applicant will also have the following:

  • NEBOSH Certificate or higher
  • An understanding of UK/EU legislation
  • Significant experience in developing and driving an HSE strategy
  • Proven experience developing a safety culture and leading transformation
  • Excellent relationship building skills with the ability to build a network of connections both internally and externally
  • The ability to lead, influence and advocate for HSE best practice
  • Strong leadership and people development skills
  • Proactive, problem solving skills
  • The ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organisation
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills and the ability to work in an evolving multi-discipline environment
