LSE's Extended Education programmes give participants access to the School’s research and teaching and provide them with opportunities to be a part of LSE. They are high quality programmes that meet the differing and evolving needs of international audiences, offering students the knowledge and skills required to make their own impact beyond the LSE. Extended Education programmes operate on a commercial basis, generating a financial return to the School which helps it sustain and advance its positive global impact.
Each year LSE Extended Education reaches over 30,000 participants from more than 160 countries. We have an offer which allow participants to stand out the crowd at every stage of their lives and careers: LSE Summer School is the largest in Europe, LSE Online enables working professionals to upskill and reskill and LSE Executive Education attracts a global audience of senior leaders from the private and public sectors.
Our ambition today is to be the leading social science university with the greatest global impact. Led by our Director, LSE alumna Dame Minouche Shafik, our strategy LSE 2030 lays out the guiding principles that will help us achieve our goals and shape the world’s future.
A key ambition within this strategy is to extend the School’s impact by significantly growing our extended education and lifelong learning programmes.
The Extended Education Unit is a highly successful and commercially driven team that works in partnership with senior academics to deliver LSE’s Extended Education programmes. The Unit consists of 59 members of staff and is based on the top two floors of Clement House, a newly renovated office space at the heart of the campus. All our programmes operate in increasingly competitive markets, and this is reflected in our culture which has a focus on quality, ambition and pace.
